Natural light, the size of the windows, other lighting and orientation are some of the points that can influence the choice of floor colour. A dark floor “swallows” a lot of light, and also affects the feeling of space. At the same time, a dark floor can create a warm and comfortable feel in large rooms. A light rug on a dark floor unites the room with its light-coloured walls. A light wood floor reflects the light and increases the feeling of space within the room, and can create a dramatic contrast to dark design details.
Polished and shiny floors reflect sunlight and redistribute it more than matt lacquered or natural oiled floors.
Our range includes many of the world’s most beautiful species. From light, calm Birch or Maple, through Oak and Beech, to dark and vibrant Walnut or Jarrah.
Kährs wood floors are available in different thicknesses to suit the demands in various areas.
The appearance of any wood floor depends on a number of factors, such as the wood species, grain, knots etc. Each tree offers a variety of colours and structures, allowing us to produce wood floors with many different appearances.
Kährs offers a selection of three different gradings, each with a unique character. Grading depends on which part of the log is used when producing individual boards.
City – cleanMade from regular timber grade, planks are uniform, with small variations in grain and tone.
Town – colour variationThese floors are characterized by subtle variations in colour, tone and pattern and are without knots.
Country – knotsFeaturing dramatic graining, gnarls and knots, these floors boast greater colour variations and have a more lively, rustic character.
Lacquer, matt lacquer or oil? Whichever surface treatment you choose for your floor, it always enhances the wood’s natural beauty. Your choice should be decided by your preferences for style, feel and maintenance. No matter which one you choose, your floor will be ready to walk on as soon as it is installed. All Kährs surface treatments are solvent-free.
At Kährs, we continue to develop new ways to bring beauty and new design to our wood flooring, increasing possibilities for personal choices. We can further enhance the look and feel of our floors through a variety of techniques.
