Kährs receives eighth CFJ Award for Best Installation

Kährs has received its eighth Contract Flooring Award, for ‘Best Installation’ at The Yang Sing Oriental Hotel. Sponsored jointly by Contract Flooring Journal and the Contract Flooring Association, the Award was given for the extensive application of Kährs Oak Espresso Provence, by Denton-based Business Flooring Ltd. Votes by CFJ’s flooring contractor readership were registered in a ballot earlier this year and the Award was presented at an exclusive luncheon hosted at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.



A stunning application, which has received much press coverage in both trade and consumer magazines, the luxurious Yang Sing Oriental was the creation of Gerry and Harry Yeung, owners of the award winning Yang Sing Restaurant. The landmark 48-bedroom boutique hotel was the first Oriental hotel in the UK and is sited in a sympathetically converted Victorian Grade II listed building in Manchester. All works were carried out by Hargreaves Contracting.

Formerly a cotton warehouse, and later a bank and catering equipment storage building, the hotel was given a 1930’s modern classic Oriental design by Manchester based Architectural Designer, Roberta Fulford. All 48 individually designed bedrooms and suites, including duplex suites and the 89sq m Emperor Suite, feature en-suites and lounge areas, with Kährs Oak Espresso Provence installed throughout. Kährs was also installed throughout the bar, reception and lounge areas.
