Wood flooring stands out for its natural beauty, resilience, and versatility. Ideal for various interiors, it adds warmth, comfort, and timeless elegance to any room. Here are reasons why homeowners and designers alike prefer wood floors:
Durability: High-quality wood flooring is built to withstand heavy foot traffic and everyday wear and tear, retaining its allure for decades.
Style Versatility: Available in various species, colors, and finishes, hardwood floors complement any interior design theme.
Improved Indoor Air Quality: Wood doesn’t harbor allergens, ensuring a healthier environment for you and your loved ones.
Adds Value: Homes with wood flooring typically fetch higher market values, making it a smart investment for property owners.
Sustainability: Wood floors are made from an environmentally friendly and renewable material – natural wood. During its lifetime, wood floors act as a carbon sink binding CO2 so that it is not emitted into the atmosphere becoming part of the green house effect.
Wooden floors are broadly classified into two distinct categories, each boasting its unique advantages. These range from the pure allure of solid wood and the innovative and versatile engineered wood floors where Kährs specializes.
Solid wood floors are made from the same piece of wood sawn to boards or strips. They are durable with a timeless charm. Something to be aware of with solid wood floors, is that they will expand and contract depending on the variation of humidity in the air during the different seasons making them less format stable than f ex engineered wood floors. This is also the reason for why one cannot combine solid wood floors with underfloor heating.
Engineered wood floors are a layered affair and yet made from pure wood: they feature one or more stabilizing layers, where the core can be made from different type of materials as HDF, plywood, or softwood - topped with a surface layer of the wood that, together with the surface finish, will define the final design. This construction not only ensures robustness and simplicity in upkeep but also make them more format stable and resistant to gapping. Engineered wood flooring is also a more sustainable choice since it uses less of the slow growing hardwood material as oak. They're also suited for underfloor heating systems, unlike their solid wood counterparts, which are prone to gapping under such conditions.
Engineered wood flooring comes in two varieties, Veneer and Parquet flooring:
Veneer flooring, Kährs Life, is a thin, and yet hard and tough real wood floor, ideal for renovation that comes in many different designs. The hardwood top layer is not sandable but the construction makes it extremely durable so that it will retain its beauty and natural look throughout the years.
For those seeking an artistic touch, Parquet flooring stands out with its extensive variation. Kährs offers 3-layered boards in many different styles and formats and 2-layer design parquet for even more flexibility. Parquet isn‘t just a flooring option but a design statement that infuses personality into your living spaces. Our offering in these categories is engineered for quality, in a wide variety of designs and surface treatments. The designs range from the impressive large format boards to classic herringbone patterns or the contemporary flair of chevron designs, characterized by its modern 'V' formation.
In the world of wood flooring, variety and quality coexist, offering endless possibilities to enhance your home with warmth, durability, and style. Whether you prefer a rustic touch, a more tranquil look or a classic patterned option, there is a wood floor for every preference.
