Are your wood floors finished with oil or lacquer?

First of all, there are a few simple ways to protect your wood floors form unnecessary wear. Place door mats both outside and inside of your front doors. This will keep most of the gravel and dirt out, which is the main cause of unnecessary wear and scratches. Make a habit of sweeping up larger bits of dirt from your floors before vacuuming or mopping. That way you won’t push dirt around when cleaning, which can cause scratching. Another smart measure is to put protective pads on any furniture touching the floor. Make sure pads are made from a soft material, like felt, that won’t mark your floor.

Before performing any repairs, it’s important to know if you have oiled or lacquered wood floors. If you’re unsure about this, contact your retailer for more information.
