Kährs to deliver hardwood flooring to sustainable UK cosmetics retailer Lush

The dialogue between Kährs and Lush was initiated over a year ago. Lush has very high standards of sustainability awareness and strong environmental ethos for all its cosmetic products, which involve the whole chain from buying raw materials to packaging, waste and recycling and reducing the use of energy and water. This demands long pre-qualification processes to ensure sustainable supply chain certifications and adopted processes, including no animal testing as well as ethical, sustainable and vegetarian sourcing of material. With Kährs, the process was finalized and confirmed in connection to a visit to Kährs factory in Nybro, Sweden by end of 2018, leading to an agreement of Kährs delivering hardwood floors to Lush stores in the UK.

“Our beliefs and ethics are at the centre of everything we do and, as such, it is important that our suppliers have the right credentials and fit with these beliefs. We have chosen Kährs to supply our spa flooring and we are really happy with the result that we have been able to achieve with this collaboration”, said Rosie Goodbourn, Materials Researcher for Lush.

The hardwood flooring for Lush’s Birmingham flagship store and spa has already been delivered and is open for business. The flooring for the Liverpool flagship store, which is the largest in the world has been installed for the store’s opening in March 2019. The expected next step of the collaboration will be to deliver flooring to Lush stores in countries outside of the United Kingdom.

“We are very proud to collaborate with Lush and especially that we share a passion in environment and sustainability. Just as Lush we strive to constantly reduce our impact on the environment throughout all our operations”, said Christer Persson, President and CEO, Kährs Group.
